Chief Don Cook started with the Jacksonville Police Department in June of 1970 and has progressed up the chain of command to Chief of Police.  Chief Cook has made desperate attempts to unite the police department and the community of Jacksonville together in a pro-active community policing approach.  During his appointment as Chief of Police, Don Cook, has established several beneficial projects, including assigning a patrol officer to each school within the community, bicycle patrol, and the formation of the Citizen's Police Academy.  As leader of the Jacksonville Police Department, Chief Cook hopes to continue the close working relationship with the community, addressing crime and solving problems with effective solutions, thus improving the quality of life in Jacksonville.
