Captain Steve Poole has been employed with the Jacksonville Police Department since 1979. Captain Poole was promoted from Patrolman to Sergeant in 1986, to the position of Lieutenant in 1987 and then to his present position as Captain in March of 1997. As Captain of Operations, Poole is responsible for oversight of the patrol division, grant writing, policy making, equipment purchases, and maintaining the patrol fleet. Captain Poole has his Bachelor's Degree with some classes towards earning a Master's Degree. Prior to being hired with Jacksonville Police Department, Captain Poole was employed with the Morgan County Sheriff's Department. As a graduate of the FBI National Academy, 195th Session, Captain Poole has also attended many advanced training courses including Juvenile Certification, Leadership Supervision, Executive Development, Supervisory Decision Making, Fingerprinting, Communicating with the Deaf, Personnel Needs and Strategies in Community Policing, Selection and Retention of Officers, Firearms Training Simulator, and Integrity Driven Policing. Captain Poole is currently head of the department's neighborhood watch program. |
| Since 1983, Captain Rex Ginder has been employed with the Jacksonville Police Department. Captain Ginder's responsibilities include overseeing the communications, investigations, and records departments, purchasing and maintaining electronic and technical equipment, grant writing, Finance Chairman for E911 board, and Treasurer for the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 125. Captain Ginder is currently heading the task force in creating a combined communications center including the Jacksonville Police Department, Morgan County Sheriff's Department, and Passavant Hospital dispatch centers, into one localized unit. |
