Holidays

 Officers receive eleven (11) paid holidays per year.

 

 Pension

 

Officers contribute 9.91% of their salary into the Jacksonville Police Pension Fund.  The City of Jacksonville matches the employee’s contribution.  Employees may receive pension benefits after attaining age 50 with a minimum of twenty (20) years of service.  Pension benefits are regulated by the Illinois Compiled Statutes.

  

Health Insurance

 

The City of Jacksonville pays 100% of the premium for the employee’s health insurance.  Family coverage is available at the employee’s expense.  The employee is also covered by a life insurance policy paid by the city.


Sick Leave

 

Sick leave is earned at the rate of fifteen (15) days per year and accumulates from year-to-year to a maximum of ninety (90) days.

  

Callback – Overtime

 

Officers receive a minimum of three (3) hours compensation at time and one-half the rate of pay when making court appearances or called in while off duty.  Officers have the choice of receiving pay or compensatory time.

 

Uniforms & Equipment

 

Uniforms and equipment are provided to the officers by the police department.  The Jacksonville Police Department replaces worn uniforms and equipment.

  

Meal Allowance

 

When required to work past midnight officers receive $5.25 per shift.

  

Work Schedule

 

The department utilizes a 12-hour schedule: 6:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.  Shifts are bid by seniority.  Officers work seven shifts in a two-week period with every other weekend off. 

  

Salary and benefits are defined in the Collective Bargaining Agreements Between the City of Jacksonville and The Illinois Fraternal Order of Police Labor Council, the Jacksonville Patrol Officers, and the Jacksonville Command Officers.  The current Agreements are in effect through December 31, 2010.
