The Jacksonville Police Department has recently hired Michael Newport to fill the position of Public Community Service Assistant. Mr. Newport is responsible for investigating abadoned vehicle complaints among various other duties.

Abandoned and junk vehicles have been a major concern in Jacksonville neighborhoods for a long time, and were further identified as such in the City’s Comprehensive Plan. This free service represents the Mayor and City Council’s commitment to cleaner, safer neighborhoods.
Do you have any unwanted vehicles on your property? If so, the City of Jacksonville will pick them up for FREE.
An Abandoned Vehicle is:
- Any vehicle that does not have current license plates.
- Any vehicle that does not run under its own power and is in a state of disrepair.
If your vehicles meet any of these criteria, you could be in violation of City Ordinance Sec. 28-79. |
